This morning, just as I was walking the girls into the garage to load them in the car to go to Bible study, we heard two huge BOOMs and the entire house shook. I was so shocked and my first reaction was to think that there was a maniac walking down our street with a shotgun. FYI I’ve never heard a gunshot before. SO, I threw the girls into the car as quick as I could while watching the street and trying to plan what I would do if said maniac walked by. My best idea was to jump in the car and run him or her over.
Since that wasn’t a very good plan, now that I think of it, I am happy to report there was no such Maniac. I heard on the radio moments later that it was actually the Sonic Boom from the space shuttle Discovery coming home to earth.
And the whole ride to church I seriously wanted to shout,
“We landed on the moon!”
It’s just amazing to me that those 7 people were just in outter space and are back to earth safely now. Pretty incredible when you think about it.
And that reminds me, here’s a little full disclosure to make you laugh at my expense: When I was younger I got Neil Armstrong and Louis Armstrong mixed up and thought they were the same person. And I told my younger sister with full confidence (because, hello, it makes A LOT of sense) that he wrote the song “What a Wonderful World” after returning to Earth from the moon.
And you can laugh at her expense when I tell you she believed me. True story.
The other morning a little while after she got up, Noa:
“Mommy! My pull-up is dry this morning!” and a few moments later, “Oh, I just peed in my pull-up. Bummer…”
And this morning, Martha:
“My see-yol pilled! Bumma…” (“My cereal spilled. Bummer.”)
As she peeled away a hello-kitty bandaid from her knee,
“Praaaaaaaaise Jesus! My boo-boos all better!”
6 months ago at this moment we were waiting to meet this cutie-patootie face to face.

I’m so glad she’s here and I’m so glad she’s mine!
And I am thinking about going out and getting some rice cereal to celebrate.
We had such fun last month when our relatives came!

The girls were together with all of their cousins. In one place. Crazy fun!

The Newark Iversons stayed at our home for several days. What a treat to have so much time together.

The kiddos camped out together in the girls’ room each night.

We went to the Sugar Mill Pancake House

Kimberly and I spent many hours talking, cleaning, herding, and playing with our six kids in tow. It was a far cry from only six years ago when we were roommates in college and it was just the two of us in our living space. Yes, our homes and lives and hearts are so much fuller now!

We played outside.

We listened intently to Bible stories.

We ate together.

And smiled a lot.

We love it when our relatives come. Can’t wait till their next visit!
